Mickey Callisto is making 2025 a year to remember. The Sunderland-born singer, who first captured attention on Britain’s Got Talent earlier this year, has turned online debates into worldwide recognition in just a matter of months.

The 28-year-old performer faced early controversy when some BGT viewers accused him of miming during his stunning audition of Who Wants to Live Forever. While judges praised his “stunning” voice and Freddie Mercury-like stage presence, a portion of the audience claimed the performance looked too perfect to be live.
Rather than letting the criticism slow him down, Callisto has spent the year proving the doubters wrong. His breakout moment came with the Bohemian Rhapsody flashmob in Paris, where he delivered Freddie’s parts live to unsuspecting crowds.

Directed by musician Julien Cohen and joined by 30 performers—including fellow BGT sensation guitarist Olly Pearson—the performance has now been viewed over 500 million times across platforms, even earning praise from Queen themselves: “We absolutely love this,” the band commented.

Callisto continued to impress during a recent BBC appearance, performing a stripped-back, a cappella version of Bohemian Rhapsody. What started as a spontaneous live decision quickly went viral, with fans celebrating his voice as “exactly like Freddie” and praising the talented group of musicians who joined him.

This whirlwind year doesn’t stop there. From touring with CMAT to releasing his best-performing single yet, Supernova, Callisto is solidifying his place in the spotlight. He has just announced a headline show at The Grand Social Ballroom in Dublin on Tuesday, 25 November 2025, with tickets (€19 including booking fee) going on sale Friday, 19 September at 10am via Singular Artists.
For Callisto, the path is clear: viral moments may have sparked conversation, but his raw talent is what keeps fans talking. As one admirer commented after his BBC performance: “Protect this guy at all costs. He’s a rockstar already.”
