Legendary singer Cher had some exciting news to share with fans on Nov. 17, as she revealed in a joint post with Saturday Night Live that she will be the musical guest on the Dec. 20 episode hosted by Ariana Grande.
Along with Grande and Cher on Dec. 20, it was also announced that Melissa McCarthy will host on Dec. 6 with Dijon as the musical guest, while Josh O’Connor will host on Dec. 13 as Lily Allen performs as the musical guest.
Dec. 6 is set to be the next new episode of Saturday Night Live, as there is no new episode of the show on Nov. 22 or Nov. 29.
Fans Couldn’t Hold Back Their Excitement About Cher’s Announcement
It’s safe to say that fans were thrilled upon hearing about Cher’s news, with declarations like, “literally just got chills, omg this lineup is nuts,” and “this is how we get back to the right timeline.”

This Will Be Cher’s First Time as Musical Guest Since 1987
Cher’s next appearance on Saturday Night Live is momentous for a special reason, as it will be her first appearance as a musical guest on the hit comedy series since the fall of 1987, 38 years ago, when she performed “We All Sleep Alone” and “I Found Someone.”
While she hasn’t performed on the show in almost four decades, she has made cameo appearances over the years. Cher appeared on the show again in 1992, as well as earlier this year, for the Saturday Night Live 50th Anniversary Special in February. Many celebrities and cast members have also impersonated the singer on Saturday Night Live.
