Selena Gomez is loving Taylor Swift‘s news like a love song, baby.
After Travis Kelce knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring for the “Karma” singer, her longtime best friend couldn’t help but gush over the sweet news.
“When bestie gets engaged,” Selena wrote on her Instagram Story Aug. 27 alongside photos from the garden engagement.
She also celebrated one very special full-circle moment after Taylor had written to her on Twitter in 2009, “Real love still happens sometimes. It’s not just something we make up when we’re nine. I have to believe that. You do too.” A fan reposted the message with side-by-side photos of Selena and Taylor’s proposals, saying, “16 years later,” which Selena reshared to her Instagram Story.
Taylor announced the enchanting news Aug. 26 alongside a snap of the Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s proposal in an ethereal garden. The Grammy winner—who showed off her sparkling diamond ring—captioned the Instagram post, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
Of course, Taylor and Selena have both reached that sweet milestone over the last year, with Taylor celebrating her sweet engagement to Benny Blanco. The “Blank Space” singer teased under Selena’s announcement on Instagram in December, “Yes, I will be the flower girl.”
The “Calm Down” singer—who is seemingly celebrating her bachelorette party in Cabo San Lucas with friends—isn’t the only star who has expressed their excitement about Taylor and Travis’ engagement. In fact, the athlete’s teammate Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany Mahomes also highlighted the major win.
Meanwhile, Patrick reshared the proposal on his Instagram Stories, accompanied by several red heart emojis.
Others subtly showed their support by liking Taylor’s news, including Travis’ brother Jason Kelce, his wife Kylie Kelce, Meghan Markle, Kate Middleton and Prince William, Maren Morris, Suki Waterhouse and Sydney Sweeney.

“He’s truly trying to get to know me in a way that’s very natural,” she recalled on Travis and Jason’s New Heights podcast Aug. 13. “Very natural, very pure, very normal. The way he could make me laugh so immediately about normal things—he’s a vibe booster in everyone’s life. He’s a human exclamation point.”
She admitted, “I was like, ‘If this guy isn’t crazy, this is sort of what I’ve been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.”
