Robert Irwin Delivers Tear-Jerking Routine On Dancing With The Stars‘ Dedication Night
Bindi Irwin couldn’t be prouder of her younger brother, Robert, after he delivered a beautiful dance routine in honor of their mother.
Robert Irwin was just shy of three years old when his father, “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin, tragically died in 2006. Following Steve’s death, his wife, Terri, raised their children as a single mother while also continuing Steve’s conservation projects and running Australia Zoo.
Bindi and Robert are now carrying on their father’s legacy. They often share their love for animals and the natural world in interviews and in their posts on social media.
When it came time to prepare for his “Dedication Night” dance on Dancing with the Stars on Tuesday (October 14), Robert knew he wanted to dedicate his routine to Terri. In a post he shared before the show, he wrote:
“I’ve been thinking a lot about my mum and her strength, I’ve been reminiscing on the times we’ve spent as a family and how she has kept my dad part of my life. This dance is for my mum, it’s for anyone who’s lost someone… and it’s for all the strong mothers of the world who deserve our recognition and appreciation.“

Robert and his professional partner, Witney Carson, performed a tear-jerking contemporary routine set to the tune of “You’ll Be in My Heart” from the movie Tarzan. Terri joined Robert on the dance floor near the end of the routine, and they shared an emotional moment together.
“You gave us all of your heart and soul,” said judge Bruno Tonioli. “This was the true expression of everlasting love.”
“I’m just so proud of you,” said judge Derek Hough. “You’ve become such an amazing man. The world needs the Irwin family.”

Bindi Irwin Has Emotional Reaction To Robert’s Dance For Their Mom
Derek Hough’s praise would have meant a lot to Robert. When Robert’s sister, Bindi, competed on Dancing with the Stars during Season 21, Derek was her professional partner.
During one stage in the competition, they performed a heart-tugging routine in Steve’s memory. Bindi broke down in tears at the end of the dance.
Bindi and Derek eventually won their season of Dancing with the Stars. Now, ten years later, she’s incredibly proud of how much Robert has accomplished on the show so far.
Bindi was in the audience on “Dedication Night” and could be seen crying in the crowd after his stunning performance in honor of their mom.
After the dance, Bindi joined Robert, Witney, and Terri onstage while they were speaking to the hosts and judges. It touched everyone’s hearts when Bindi rushed over to Robert and gave him a huge hug.

The day after “Dedication Night,” Bindi reflected on all the emotions she felt watching her brother dance in honor of their mom. She said it was “The most remarkable, moving, healing night.”
Bindi added, “[I’m] Beyond proud of Robert, Witney and my beautiful mum. I’m speechless.”
