Reba McEntire brings her legendary charm to NBC’s ‘Christmas in Rockefeller Center,’ promising a holiday special full of surprises and heartwarming moments.

The country music icon has been announced as this year’s host of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting in New York City.

The “Christmas in Rockefeller Center” two-hour special will air on NBC and Peacock on Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 8 p.m. ET.

“To see all the Christmas decorations and to get to be a part of the tree lighting ceremony, Rockefeller Center, it’s something that I’ve always wanted to do,” McEntire told PEOPLE, “and I’m honored that they asked me to do it.”

The 70-year-old McEntire — a three-time Grammy winner who currently stars on NBC’s “The Voice” and “Happy Place’s” — will also perform during the festivities. She’ll be joined by an all-star lineup of musical guests that will soon be announced.

“Reba is about to light up your holiday season,” a joint social media post by NBC and McEntire said, with a video of the singer holding Christmas lights.

McEntire said it will be her first time in New York during the most wonderful time of the year.

“I’m really excited to get to go to New York City in December,” McEntire told PEOPLE. “I’ve never been there in December.”

She plans to bundle up for the occasion.

“I’m going to triple, quadruple layer,” she added. “I’ll probably have my heated vest on, and all the clothes I can, insulated underwear.”
