Yungblud is baring his soul. The 27-year-old British rocker has spoken candidly about love, loss, and controversy — opening up about his breakup with Cher’s goddaughter, his past relationship with Halsey, and the ongoing accusations of “queerbaiting” that have followed him throughout his career.
In a raw new interview, Yungblud — born Dominic Harrison — described his split from Cher’s goddaughter as “one of the hardest things I’ve ever gone through,” but made it clear that his love for her remains strong. “She’s the biggest love of my life,” he confessed. “Sometimes you meet someone who changes the way you see everything, even if it doesn’t work out in the end. That’s her for me.”
The musician, known for hits like Fleabag and Loner, said their relationship was built on mutual respect and understanding, even as the spotlight and touring schedules made things difficult. “We loved hard, we laughed, and we lived every second of it. There’s no bad blood, just love — always will be,” he added.
Fans were quick to flood social media with messages of support after the emotional admission, with many praising the singer for his vulnerability. “It takes real courage to speak about love like that,” one fan wrote. “You can tell it’s coming straight from the heart.”
Yungblud also addressed his past relationship with pop star Halsey, who he dated in 2019. “I’m just being myself,” he said firmly. “People love to label, to put you in a box. But I’ve never fit in one, and I don’t want to. I’ve always said — love who you want, be who you are, and don’t let anyone tell you it’s wrong. That’s the message.”
He went on to emphasize that his connection to the queer community is genuine, not performative. “My fans — especially the queer fans — saved my life,” he said. “I’m not trying to represent anyone I’m not. I’m standing beside the people who made me who I am. That’s what punk is about. It’s about truth.”
When asked if he believes the criticism comes from misunderstanding, Yungblud nodded. “Yeah. I think people sometimes mistake passion for performance. But if you’ve been to one of my shows, you know it’s real. I bleed for this.”
Despite heartbreak and public scrutiny, Yungblud remains optimistic. “Love doesn’t end just because a relationship does,” he said. “It transforms. It teaches you. Every person I’ve loved — Halsey, her, anyone — they’ve made me a better version of myself.”
